After more than 28 years chasing up weird tales and reports all over Australia, parts of Indonesia and the UK we are often approached by film companies to "help" them produce a documentary/TV series etc.
This normally entails us being asked to give samples/advice/information/data/photos/videos/contacts etc to the production companies.
We are also sometimes asked to travel, at our own expense of course, to different locations to "help" different production companies.
A commonality to all these requests is that we are told that the company has 1/ no money 2/tight budget 3/shooting a pilot.
The interesting thing about all these requests over the years is the zero awareness the production companies have, that anything they are after from us, has come at a cost to ourselves either through travelling or equipment costs etc.
In lieu of "payment" we are often offered a 1/walk on role 2/a screen credit or the old 3/Nothing.
So, after all these years of wasting our time previously helping companies for nothing we have had enough.
And after years of knocking back working for free anymore, we are still finding people just not getting why we dont want to work for anyone anymore for nothing.
And we would waste our time responding to emails, and then go through this ritual like dance with can you help us etc, we reply..then its the phone call..the dance starts again..but it all ends the same way.
You want something for nothing.

WE KNOW YOU HAVE NO BUDGET.
WE HAVE HEARD IT ALL BEFORE.
NO WE ARE NOT INTERESTED IN YOUR EXCITING NEW PROJECT.
